Congratulations to Jalee Kate Fuselier,
Miss America's Outstanding Teen has been organized to encourage positive achievement by helping to nurture and build the scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement of our nation's youth. This competition is intended to encourage and reward the talent, communication skills, community service, and academic achievement of girls between 13 and 17 years of age.
Jalee has developed into a young lady with the inner character and heart, which are reflected in her accomplishments and spirit of service. She has been home schooled, excelling scholastically in her studies and as a member of a home school speech and debate club. She is a very talented musician playing guitar and singing for her church and in a Christian youth band.
Her past three summers have been spent in Europe and Africa working with the organization Teen Missions to serve on the mission field teaching, building an orphanage and ministering in song and drama. This past summer she went to Malawi, Africa to help in an orphanage with Children of the Nations.
Her platform is to encourage others to serve their community and world by volunteering and helping disabled children, which has been inspired by her sister, Janee who has cerebral palsy.
Jalee is now very busy supporting her platform. She is starting a mentoring program for an elementary school on the North Shore, and is working closely with the volunteer program at the Shriners Hospital. We are very proud to have her as Miss Hawaii's Outstanding Teen, and a fellow home schooled student!
